The multi tool hatchet/hammer is great for camping. Planning ahead I wanted to replace my old hatchet that finally wore out. This seems like a good alternative. I will miss the wooden handle of the old one, so am planning on a good work glove to use with this one.
This multifunctional tool hammer really caught my attention. This multitool is a clever combination of different useful features. It's compact enough to be a perfect pocket tool kit, which means I can carry it around easily for quick fixes. I am very interested in it because it is very practical for my DIY tasks.
At first glance, this seems like a nice tool with some useful functions. However the execution is a bit lacking. The blades deploy with the old fashioned nail slits. Since the mechanism is stiff this makes it tough to open. Once deployed there is no locking on the blades. I would give it less stars, but it is less than $20, so I cant expect much. In any case I will throw it in the glove box for emergencies.
I've had a lot of multi-tools over the years, but this is the first I've had that was axe based. I like the idea. The axe is actually really sharp - way sharper than I'd normally keep an axe - but not sharper than I'd make a hatchet. It doesn't have enough weight that you'd use it for much as a normal hatchet though - but useful in a pinch. The knife I like and the pliers are actually more functional than I expected. The idea of using bits for the screwdriver at the end of the hatchet is certainly smarter than having one folded in. It's steel an magnetic. The knife was also quite sharp - although I do have to admit my great grandfather taught me how to get them razor sharp so you could shave with them. The knife and pliers don't lock in place, but they're still fairly stable and didn't feel like they wanted to close on you easily. It's a good variation on the multi-tool theme.
